Company 61 was dispatched at 02:10 for a reported barn fire at the intersection of Route 61 and Route 895 in Schuylkill County. The initial dispatch was for Company 61 to respond with one engine. A full crew gathered at station and responded with E 61-3. After arriving on location the crew was told to stand by at the exit ramp onto 895 and await orders. At this time, we were informed that we were dispatched incorrectly and that L-61 was to respond. While awaiting the arrival of L-61, E 61-3 went into service supplying Landville Fire Company's engine, as well as serving as the supplying engine from the dump site. FF/Drive Eddy Zweizig believes that E 61-3 was pumping to its full capability, which is 2000 gallons/minute. Tankers from Schuylkill County and Northern Berks County responded and hauled water to fight the fire. During the initial attack on the fire, L-61 arrived on location and immediately set up ladder operations and began to fight the fire using the master stream off the tip of the ladder. 61 Crews helped around the scene with the dump site, with the Ladder, and making sure that the Engine was continuing to work the way it should. After final extinguishment was made, and the scene was overhauled, crews packed up the fire apparatus and returned to station. Once back at station, a great coordinated effort of firefighters got E 61-3 back in service in just under an hour. All air packs were gone over, all hose cleaned, and all 5" supply line repacked on the truck. The last group of firefighters left the station around 13:30.
