10-14-05 - FIREFIGHTERS VISIT STATE STREET ELEMENTARY
   Chief Hatt talks to the children about fire safety and explains how to use a fire extinguisher.
   Firefighters demonstrate what happens when the wrong type of extinguisher is used.
   Firefighters then showed how quickly the very same fire can be extinguished by using the proper fire extinguisher.
   Even a few of the teachers got into the act, to show that anyone can use a fire extinguisher once they have a little training.
 After visiting Tilden in the morning, the firefighters moved to the State Street Elementary in the afternoon for a fire extinguisher demonstration.  This demonstration included a live fire excercise inwhich firefighters explained how to properly use a fire extinguisher to put out a fire.

After the demonstration a few of the teachers got a chance to try their hand at putting the fire out.  The students were impressed with their teachers firefighting skills.
